silent, aging carnivals from days when steam was king
One of the things that inspires me, both in writing and visually, is 20th century advertising. Primarily it’s stuff from the 40s, 50s, and 60s, but a lot of videogame and Disney design in the 70s really gets me too. There’s a pamphlet on one of my favorite sites, what makes the pie shops tick?, that I keep coming back to. It’s a Q&A about bananas from the United Fruit Company in 1948, and the design layout and tone of the writing are just so simple. It really speaks to the mindset of the time. Check it out!
