1. Danger Mouse – Probably one of my first non-parental role models growing up, Danger Mouse was a British cartoon that aired over here on Nickelodeon in the 1980s. It was a sendup of the British spy programs, though I didn’t really get the parody aspect of it at the time. All I saw was a butt-kicking mouse with an eyepatch and a hamster sidekick, who drove a flying car and sometimes went into space.
Watching it again as an adult, the dry humor really comes through – passes right over children’s heads and hits the grownups between the eyes.
