World’s Fair Wednesday – 1964 Space Park

I keep coming back to the 1964 World’s Fair.  I think it’s because that Fair in particular embodies Futurism in the way that I associated the term growing up, surrounded by a 1980s EPCOT, Xanadu, and Walt Disney World.

The ’64 Fair featured a Space Park sponsored by NASA.  The Space Park featured the first stage of the Saturn V rocket, several satellites, and a Lunar Excursion Module! Keep in mind this was 5 years before the LEM was used in spaceflight.

The pictures of the Space Park, available all over the internet, are pretty inspiring.  Here’s one of my favorites, from nywf64.com:
