While we were vacationing in Virginia last week, I spent an afternoon at the Nauticus museum in Norfolk. To my surprise, they had an exhibit on the 1907 Expo held in Jamestown! The exhibit featured some cool ephemera, including the postcard I posted last week. There were some tickets to attractions recreating the Battle of The Monitor and Merrimac, Gettysburg, and the Battle of Hampton Road. Also featured at the expo was a re-creation of the San Francisco Earthquake. that had happened a year earlier, but that wasn’t represented in the exhibit. My favorite piece was the event poster, tucked away in the corner of the exhibit well below eye level. You could easily miss it!
Apologies for the poor quality of my cameraphone picture!
