Here’s a look at the 1964 World’s Fairgrounds from a distance. Hallmarks of the ’64 Fair include CRT displays teletype machines, punch cards, and modems. Not sure how modems and punch cards are at the same level of technological development, but there you have it.
The centerpiece of the 1964 World’s Fair is the Unisphere, a twelve-story-high globe at the center of the fairground. Really sets the precedent for Spaceship Earth at EPCOT Center.
Also noteworthy of the 1964 Fair, there was a medieval Belgian village that was popular. The signature dish was a “Bel-Gem Brussels Waffle”, which contained a waffle, strawberries and whipped cream – the last being a staple of medieval Belgian cuisine…
